Hi I have just finished building a Zig Zag. Has anyone else built one?
I am finding that it tends to sail down by the head in most winds (even Up Wind) and in a blow does a very good Submarine impresion Down Wind much more pronounced than my "Triple Crown".
I have built a Zig-Zag and found it´s handling very good. The first time that I sailed it was in top of rig 1 conditions and I found that the nosediving was very minimal and when it did nosedive it recovered very quickly. Upwind it was very stable.
I do have about 1.5/2 % nose up on the ballast the fin is wood to the designed shape it has a cord of 6%.
My boat is about 150grm over weight so I will check if the hull without ballast is down by the head.
The photo looks very good a lot of work in the finishing detail.
I will try to find out how to post some photos. Of my boat
Regarding Zig Zag On wednesday the wind was up and we all had to use No 2 rig.
Still some head down problems but part way thro: I changed to my Triple Crown Fin.
Which is a Dave Creed Fin fitted with an Anders Walllin 350mm long Bulb all up weight 2495grm which I cast .
With my fin box configeration this put the Ballast CoG 13mm aft of the designed position.
The boat trim was much better as was the performance.
