Sail loops
I have two IOM's and want to exchange sails and trial the boats. One has a groovy mast the other is a 1/2" with metal rings. I have changed the tablings on the groovy mast sail to sail loops made from sail material and attach similar to the tablings with two sided tape but loops go around the mast. The sail material is 15mm in height total not to exceed 10% of luff. In your opinion is this legal? If not what would be.

Since the loops are not slides, then the 10%max of luff rule isn't relevant I think. What is important is the rule that says luff fittings can't be more than 10mm (G3.3). Your loops at 15mm are probably illegal - thats my COMPLETELY UNOFFICIAL opinion.

That's exactly the way I saw it. If anyone knows about luff rings I DO!!
I suggested that Bill post here not to pass it off to someone else (I did have plenty of discussion regarding this issue), but merely to help Bill find some other opinions (unofficial of course) regarding the subject.
My official position here was to get a drawing or picture of what was intended, and send it to the TC for assistance if it were more than 10mm. I also have concerns what may or may not be a "loop or ring".
