looking for information on kite

hey gang. it is winter and looking for a new boat to build. can anybody tell me anything about kite. i have seen pictures of it. and found out the price. . it is expensive. but if the boat does work. why not. i have srcatch built my last 4 boats. and just for a change . would like all the guess work taken out

the plan is 15 GBP which to me doesn't seem so expensive...

If you want a tried and proven free design then the Triple Crown is for sure a very competitive design.

We have a fellow who has built a few kites (in glass) and they go very well. One fellow sold his TS2 and is keeping his kite.

but the triple crown i sail now it is a bit faster, i would say.

got my plans for kite 2 weeks ago. and have built my first hull. I have to tell you . my skills need some work. I am going to redo it this week. just not happy with the way the planks go together. did you have any trouble with the bow? it seemed to be that the bow was real shallow and narrow. for station 9 to 9.8.
i saw your blue kite . and realy like the way it goes. that is what realy sold me on it. any hints would be welcome

Peter Simons from South Africa replying to your request for info on the Kite. I have moulded 19 of them so far & can say that they are very quick downwind & hold their own to windward. I made the plugs using 3mm balsa which is easier to bend in the bow sections. Also take time to divide up the sections into the required number of planks. I made the deck layout as per plan which works very well. The deck is mould in 2 sections.

thanks. for the information. there are now 3 hulls sitting in my shop. ALL i dont like. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
the frist one I put down to my experience. last hull i had plank was 6 years ago.
the second i thought the bow could be steamed. nope that still did not work
this last time. i planked to station 9.8 then used balsa wood to carve. this last try looks close to be a keeper.
for those who had built "kite" did you every think the mast placement seemed strange? almost a 4 degree rake. not 90 degrees striaght up?
i will be doing mine with the crown. and a flat stern. i saw andreas skiff , and maybe i will try that later. but right now. i just want to hit the water.
any pictures peter?

all the help i can get is welcomed. i have about 20 pictures already on my computer and they helped
