Presently, the Exec and Events are considering applications from ESP and BAR, both of which propose holding the 2009 WC'c in June of 2009.

We have a self imposed deadline of the beginning of December, but it's not written in stone. Both ESP and BAR have strong applications and EXEC and the committee members are trying to weigh all facets of both locations. We are trying to work as fast as possible so folks can start planning, and the organizers from both ESP and BAR have been very cooperative in providing answers to questions that arise.

Thanks for your enthusiasm Steve. In fairness, let me express a certainty that a World Championship in Spain would also be a great experience.

I'm sure all of us would also like to thank both Barbados and Spain for coming forward and offering to host the IOM Worlds.

Be assured that the review process is comprehensive and the principal decision criteria will be what is best for our class.

Barbados was an ABSOLUTE blast, B rig all week and wind from Africa 2800 miles away. They don't call it the 'windys' for nothing

The 2007 Mountgay Rum Boatyard event was a superb event, you guys would have a SAILING regatta like no other if Bar gets this one

With 2011 WC being pencilled in for the UK and the 2007 WC in Europe the 2009 should be on another continent? Spain could be the venue for the EC in 2010?

I am sure Barbados are windy, but we are talking about a WC, so supposed to host all the best from each country.

Regardless of where the event is held, it is always up to each skipper to make himself present. Where the event is held has nothing to do with whether or not "the best" can or cannot attend. Everyone has an equal opportunity once they have qualified to secure their travels and make the event.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

After many weeks of waiting and guessing the decision has finally been made.

On behalf of the organising committee of the Barbados sailing association we are indeed very pleased to have learnt earlier this evening that BARBADOS has been awarded the IOM WORLDS 2009.

I would like to express our sincere thanks to all those who voted in support of awarding Barbados this wonderful event and we promise to show you what a great place Barbados is for living, sailing or just having a fun time.

We will be meeting as a committee very shortly to make firm arrangements for the program and hosting of this event and we will revert to you very quickly to inform you accordingly.

Once again it is our great pleasure to learn that we have be honoured with the granting of your permission to host the IOM WORLDS 2009 and we will endeavour to make it the best that it can be.

We will very shortly be setting up a website to cater to hotel, car rental information and a series of contact details for those of us that will be involved in the planning of this event and we all look forward to being of service to you.

Once again our sincere thanks as we go forward to creating a wonderful program for 2009.

This is GREAT NEWS I know the Bajans will put on a superb event and the Island, its lovely people and their ability to just get things DONE will make it an event you will remember for the rest of your lives.

Regardless of where the WC was to be held the MountGay Boatyard event was already on our calender for 2009. Now the World Championships WOW it will be THE regatta of 2009.

Senator Peter Gilkes and your team, I congratulate you.. now the work begins.

Many thanks for good wishes, re the NOR we are in the process of drafting it today and we hopefully can have everything ready for submission to IOMICA by latest this weekend.

FYI Ken we are working with Andrew to come up with a package for Little Good Harbour and as soon as we have it finalised I will inform you.

We are eagerly looking forward to hosting this wonderful event and to having all you folks return to our shores.

This is the first of two big sailing events to be held in Barbados in the coming months following up your event we seem very well placed to pickup the FIREBALL WORLDS 2010 more on this after we meet in January.

Right now all efforts are directed towards hosting a successful IOM WORLDS 2009 and to provide the facilities for a great six days of sailing.

This event will be the highlight of my year for sure. I've been longing to make this trip to Barbados for a number of years now, and if the Worlds hadn't been awarded, I would have been at the Mount Gay event instead.

Bruce, I've seen your last sentence, but CRO has now an NCA, so they should have at least 2 places.

Besides, I thought CRO had an NCA at that time also, as there were many CRO competitors in Marseille.

Bruce, I really don't know where you found that CRO has no NCA when we were among the first IOMICA members, represented in World Council since 2003. We were organizing IOM Europeans last year, and IOM Worlds 2001 where first initial meeting to constitute IOMICA was held.

Regarding the Allocation of places itself I don't think that forum is right place to publish it as it shall go together with Notice of Race on the official championship website. Furthermore, complete allocation of places should include Stages 2, 3 and 4 as required by the IOMICA Championship Regulations. It was me that was usually doing this table asked by the organizers in last 8 years and I also prepared the one for Barbados that I will e-mail to the organizer with copy to you.

Therefore, please correct this Allocation of place in your last post.

Bruce, I saw that you took out two NZL entries in Stage 2 from my original document. It seems to me that they should be there. They have 3 places allocated in Stage 1, what is giving them 7 more places in Stage 2 allocated from the results from Marseille. They had 5 competitors in Marseille, so there should be 5 places allocated to the NZL in Stage 2.

Did I miss something?
