Y want to know if the "backstay crane" is a fitting, if so, it can be made of any material? ex. carbon fiber.

Indeed, and as such I imagine it must comply with the material restrictions for a mast. However I can find no similar statement for a backstay crane, so I assume when fitted to a mast it’s still just a backstay crane and not taken as part of the mast. Hence can be made out of anything you like.(a) A mast stub arrangement is permitted and, if used, shall be taken to be part of the mast.
This, of course is just my opinion. I’ve been known to get the rules completely wrong before now
Actually I really hope I’m right here, ‘cos the same would likely apply to a spreader attachment, and I’m in the midst of making “clip onâ€
