Spreaders

Anyone know if there is any restriction on what spreaders are made of or the profile for the UK.having read the rules I thonk that they could not be carbon tube? Thanks for any thoughts

Hi Geoffrey

One of the, er, joys of the IOM is that the rules also apply outside of the UK... :) ... so they tell me... :D

Yes, IMHUO, spreaders are mast fittings. They are thus not considered rigging, nor are they subject to the restrictions on materials for the mast spar. I believe c/f spreaders are class-legal.
