Re: 2015 AGM - Topic: Ratify Emergency Class Rule
This appears to be the case of the tail wagging the dog. We will open the rules for abuse if we keep changing the rules to suit every new but illegal concept simply because it has been slipped into the fleet and become accepted.

Re: IRSD
Roy. Just a small correction. It is IRSA. Yes it is not great and is very unfortunate as IRSA has now lost some excellent enthusiastic volunteers. Unfortunately this has all happened at a time when IRSA was gaining momentum in the right direction. It may be the right time to conclude a new governanc...

Votes
You can never take the task of collecting the votes away from the NCA simply because there many people who are registered (paid there annual fee) who do not have either e-mail or internet access. I know that IOMICA only accepts an NCA if it has but the NCA cannot exclude a member because he does not...

Way back in 1978 here in Durban we had judges sitting on the far bank calling incidents. If I remember correctly it was changed after day 1 simply because it is unfair for an umpire or judge to have a better view than the skipper.I believe that the start line and first beat should be as true as poss...

Peter I hear you but unfortunately this event has priced itself out of the reach of most South Africans. (R10.50 = $1.00) I attended both Croatia and Marseille as well as many other International events and whilst each one was expensive at the time this one seems worse. (Marseille entry was R3500 an...

I was not questioning the rules. I believe that they are well written and cover the situation 100%. Why I say we need to think outside the box is that everyone involved in a windward mark situation is generally far away (I have also seen situations where the distance is not far) making it extremely ...

Pedro. That will not solve the problem because the port tack boat will tack create a problem which the Umpire has to try and rule on from a distance. My thinking was that if a port tack boat enters the zone and their is a subsequent incident he is immediately penalised (720) irrespective of whether ...

One solution to the Umpiring senario is to use as qualified as available yachtsmen not competing with radio experience and incorporating the "Buddy" system. Let them make the calls and as sportsmen we should accept the good with the bad. After all even in International cricket the umpires get it wro...

Barbados Entry Cost
I certainly don't have the any answers but can say that this event will cost me nearly 50% more than the last event which was already getting expensive. I have no idea how many other countries are affected in the same way. You can say it is down to the fluctuation in exchange rates as explained by Z...
